When I think about new babies being born I see new life, a new journey unfolding. I also see God unfolding in our midst today. This modern interpretation of the Nativity scene was created to spread joy and remind us of Christ in our midst today.
 
In New Zealand or Australia I find myself picturing a Nativity scene looking a little something like this. Fields, animals, workers, Tui bird on the corrugated iron roof. And surely Joseph would have had his hand on the farm dog that came to visit in the hay-barn as the local cat looks on...

While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
